Canonical announced a version of Ubuntu for smartphones showing of the software on a Galaxy Nexus handset. The company is mostly known for its user friendly Linux desktop operating system. Ubuntu is among the most popular Linux distributions and some hardware makers have sold computers with Ubuntu instead of Microsoft Windows. Canonical expects actual phones running Ubuntu near the end of 2013 although a build for some smartphones such as the Nexus will become available in a few weeks. Ubuntu on a phone looks as polished as iOS and open as Android which could make for an attractive combination. The platform does not require a hardware button for the home screen or task switching. Instead users swipe from the edge of the phone display for in app navigation, settings and home screen.
Linux Infighting Might Be Opportunity for Windows Server
Linux is known for being a flexible and highly stable operating system and its almost a certainty that you have a few instances of a Linux OS somewhere within your infrastructure. One of the main selling points of Linux is the fact that its open-sourced. There are plenty of benefits when using open sourced operating systems as it creates an environment of flexibility and customizability that closed operating systems simply cannot match. Additionally open-source software has the reputation of quality and security because bugs are identified and fixed by the much larger open-source developer community. But all this freedom and code-sharing comes at a price. Because there is so much freedom, it has fostered a huge number of Linux distributions that cause a great deal of confusion when trying to standardize and support only a few flavors.

The 7 Best Servers For Linux
Its much easier to find factory produced Linux systems, presently its an easy task. This list of seven Linux hardware-compatible server manufacturers want you to know about their products. It is important to bear in mind that although Linux is free, support is not. Therefore have an idea of the type of system you want then make the toll-free phone call to ensure its correct. Give the telephone support technician as much information as you can about the purpose, number of users and performance needs of the systems you are ordering. Life will be so much better if you do.

Now Web Servers Shares SSL Configuration and Certificates
Now we can use IIS Shared Configuration to share SSL configuration data and certificates between different web servers. This type of sharing is possible in IIS 8 which is bundled with Windows Server 2012 through the new Centralized SSL Certificate Support feature. Microsoft recently introduced the IIS Shared Configuration feature in Windows Server 2008 to let multiple web servers share the same configuration that stored on a central file share. Changes to the central master configuration file are automatically propagated across the different web servers pointing to the shared configuration store. Centralized SSL Certificate Support lets web server administrators store and access SSL/TLS X.509 certificates centrally on a file share.
Rootkit Attacks Internet User Of Linux Web Server
Rootkit.Linux.Snakso.a is designed to infect the Linux kernel version 2.6.32-5-amd64 and adds an iframe to all served web pages by the infected Linux server via the nginx proxy. The malware appears to be in its development stages as the code is rather large (more than 500k including debugging information) and Kaspersky.
Security researcher said that the code does not seem to be a variant of a publicly available rootkit, but a result of contract work of an intermediate programmer with no extensive kernel experience. The malware is also likely to have been customized by the buyer which introduced critical flaws. Researcher speculated that based on his research the rootkit may have been created by a Russia-based attacker. The security researcher concluded that the code quality would be unsatisfying for a serious targeted attack, including a lack of any obfuscation and proper HTTP response parsing which ultimately also led to discovery of this rootkit.
How to Build Linux Hosting Server in the Cloud
There are all kinds of Linux hosting servers. The most complicated of these require you to be a Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE). Many of them require you to do more than download a distro, burn a CD and install and boot up your new bare-bones servers.Well, one excellent choice is TurnKey Linux.
With TurnKey Linux the only hardware you need is any device that can support a Web browser and a credit card. That’s because while you can run TurnKey Linux on an ordinary dedicated server or on VMWare, OpenStack, or OpenVZ, the mindlessly simple and fast way to do it is to spin up your own server on the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2).
Here’s how it works.
TurnKey Linux until recently was built on Ubuntu Linux 10.04. Now, the core TurnKey Linux is in the process of being migrated to old but rock solid Debian Squeeze (6.0.4) Linux distribution. But you as someone who just needs a server Right Now don’t need to worry about what’s happening in the background. No all you have to do is pick the appropriate TurnKey Linux server.
New Linux Rootkit Uncovered
The software nasty targets machines running 64-bit GNU/Linux and a web server and acts like a rootkit by hiding itself from administrators, writes The Register’s John Leyden. A browser fetching a website served by the compromised system will be quietly directed via an HTML iframe to malicious sites loaded with malware to attack the web visitor’s machine.
Considering that this rootkit was used to non-selectively inject iframes into nginx webserver responses, it seems likely that this rootkit is part of a generic cyber crime operation and not a targeted attack, CrowdStrike senior security researcher Georg Wicherski wrote in a detailed analysis. However, a Waterhole attack, where a site mostly visited from a certain target audience is infected would also be plausible. Since no identifying strings yielded results in an Internet search. it appears that this is not a modification of a publicly available rootkit.
